Pisces (Mīna) in Vedic Astrology
Pisces, or Mīna, is a dual, feminine, sattvic, water sign ruled by Jupiter. It represents a deeply inward and dissolving flow of consciousness, associated with the natural twelfth house and its themes of withdrawal, spirituality, foreign lands, loss, liberation, and inner reflection.
As the final sign of the zodiac, Pisces signifies a state of expansion beyond boundaries, where experience becomes fluid, unstructured, and intuitive rather than analytical.
This is also the sign of Venus’s exaltation, reflecting the capacity for boundless compassion, devotion, and unconditional love. At the same time, Mercury is considered debilitated here, as the Piscean field of awareness resists rigid categorization, logic, and fixed classification in favor of symbolic and intuitive knowing.
In the body, Pisces is associated with the feet, symbolizing humility, surrender, pilgrimage, and devotion. In mythology, this connects to Jupiter’s Vāmana incarnation of Viṣṇu, where the act of stepping spans all realms of existence.
Pisces is also associated with hospitals, ashrams, retreat spaces, places of isolation or confinement, oceans, foreign travel, sleep, and financial expenditure.
Pisces
“Wisdom, travel, withdrawal, spirituality, and loss.”
Many of these themes relate to environments of solitude and reflection, where external activity slows and inner awareness becomes more prominent. The twelfth house is also associated with forms of loss or release, which can ultimately lead to deeper understanding, spiritual inquiry, and detachment from material identification.
